Internationally renowned speaker and business futurist, Morris Miselowski always has his eye on what is happening with new technology around the world. He feels strongly that 3D printing will be a ‘game changer’ and will become commonplace within the next 5 years.
“We are on the cusp of a revolution in the way we produce products, goods and even human organs and it’s all wrapped up around the notion of 3D printers” he says.
Printing technology now means that rather than print on paper, printers in the future will print using 3D materials such as concrete or bone, to create 3D objects. For instance, they will be able to print organs, arteries and veins, skin and other biological material for use in surgery. Take a look at the following video to learn more about this amazing breakthrough.
Another 3D printing development with huge potential benefits is the new food printer Cornucopia. Imagine printing your dinner every evening? What about being able to print food to save the lives of people in starving countries? It seems mind blowing right now but the technology has already been developed and will become mainstream in the near future.
Morris says “What about printing your home? It sounds ridiculous but in the following video you can see how architects and engineers are starting to use 3D printers already, to create large structures out of concrete. It allows for greater precision that ever before, meaning that buildings will have less and less restrictions around their build. Imagine letting an architect loose with no restrictions? The buildings will be amazing!”.
Of course, there is the flip side too. What if people can print guns and ammunition? How will it be controlled? How will it affect us?
This is a technology that will change our lives as we know it; within the next five to ten years it will become increasingly normal and within the decade will be as common as the office printer.
