Delivery Hero Australia was launched in September last year by web entrepreneurs Fabian Stein and CJ Foo. Fabian Stein said “We saw an opportunity to simplify home delivery by giving people the ability to order online from their favourite local restaurants. It’s a win win situation for customers and restaurants alike. Hassle free home delivery for the customer and more business for the local restaurants.”
So far Delivery Hero has delivered over 100,000 meals to Australian homes and grew by 200 percent so far this year. They have reached 1000 restaurant partners across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland and aim to continue to grow to cover Australia.
“Australians love home delivery and the online food delivery offers instant gratification. Why go to the bother of walking across the kitchen, finding a restaurants number in the phone book and spelling the name of your street to someone, when you can make food appear with a few taps on a screen?” says Tracy Richardson Chief Marketing Officer for Delivery Hero.
Delivery Hero Australia is part of a globally successful network. International parent company Delivery Hero is active in 11 countries including UK (known as Hungry House) Germany (known as Lieferheld), Russia, Mexico and Korea. The Team Europe flagship company recently revealed that it is now on target for over €250 million revenue this year. The company grew by 84 percent in the first quarter of this year and is now the market-leading online service for take-out in Germany, Poland, Austria, Switzerland and Finland.
“We are currently one of the fastest-growing companies in the world,” co-CEO Fabian Siegel boasted in
a statement. And the company’s not done yet. All this expansion takes cash, and the company says it’s taken in €40 million ($51 million) in funding since it started in October 2010, from runet, e-Tengelmann, Kite Ventures, Holtzbrinck Ventures, Point Nine Capital and Team Europe.
