What’s Cookin’ changes the way that busy people eat food. It is based on the theory that there are some people out there who are time poor or crappy cooks that really want to eat a nice home cooked meal but often have to order unhealthy take away as that is all that is available. Then you have other people who have the time and adore cooking, who produce top notch quality meals.
So what if you could order what the people cooking those delicious meals from home are having? That is exactly what this app does. Essentially you can purchase a meal from these home cooks and have it delivered directly to your door. All registered “Cooks” on the app, have been through a major vetting process first to insure the highest standards are kept and that the meals are top notch.
In order to keep delivery prices down, they have partnered with social courier start up goParcel to get the meals safely to their customers.
We are going to see more and more collaborative consumption like this in the tech space over the coming 6 months. Collaboration is the key to keeping costs low for consumers and allowing individuals to earn some extra cash on the side – a win /win situation for all.
I personally love the way that What’s Cookin’ in particular allows would be restaurant owners to dip their toe in the water and slowly build a business whilst doing what they love, without all the risk involved in having their own establishment from the outset.
