Do you run a startup? What if we told you that you have the opportunity to learn from top exerts in how to launch a business, how to nail the incubator interview, how to capital raise and more, and all in one evening?
The startup on everyone’s mind, WeTeachMe a marketplace for real life classes, recently threw an event called WeTeachMelbourne: Startup Speed Teaching (a play on speed dating where attendees are matched with field experts in startup-centric areas for rapid-fire learning) in Melbourne that made all this possible.
Combined with a room full of motivated entrepreneurs and startups, incubators, investors and potential cofounders, WeTeachMe’s sold-out Speed Teaching event provided chutzpah and fun to what is normally a long and arduous learning process.
Co-founder Kym Huynh explains, “It took a long time for WeTeachMe to locate the people we needed to find so that we could educate ourselves in fields of capital raising, team management, development and design and execution. We thought to ourselves: What if we weren’t able to locate these people? The likely outcome would have been startup failure. We didn’t want this to happen to other startups so we thought we could bring together the startup community in an evening of learning, networking and fun.”
Despite the educational content on offer, a surprising twist in the event was the amount of networking that was taking place. “Startups meeting incubators, incubators meeting co-working spaces, investors meeting startups, it was fantastic seeing the connections being made,” says cofounder Cheng Zhu.
Co-founder Demi Markogiannaki adds, “It’s fantastic seeing startups connecting with legal and accounting experts. Startup founders as a bunch tend to be time-poor, so connecting and learning from domain experts in multiple disciplines, such as legal and accounting, becomes amazingly efficient.”
Did you miss out on WeTeachMe’s Startup Speed Teaching event? It’s not too late. WeTeachMe is bringing this event to Sydney on May 17 and again to Melbourne on May 31 and is currently approaching sponsors, teachers and companies that see value in a partnership with the Speed Teaching events.
