Startups & Social Media

Introducing the She Inspires social media seminars for small business owners for 2012. This series is all about helping SME’s learn what’s involved in making the most of the free marketing tools that are social media platforms.

Each seminar topic is designed for small business owners to answer their real life questions and aspirations about social media by small business owner Belinda Stinson of She Inspires. (http://www.sheinspires.com.au/)

“I’ve a very limited budget for marketing so all my efforts have to count. So when I finally started getting my head around social media I realised it was a fabulous free marketing tool letting me talk directly to a whole new audience,” says Belinda.

“The challenge came in the learning about it all. I didn’t know where to start and how to cut through the noise to find the nuggets of gold specifically for small business. So when the opportunity came to run a series of events I decided it was my chance to learn from the experts and help other SME’s at the same time,” explains Belinda.

The first three seminars were started last year when Belinda was part of The Rocks Pop-Up and proved so popular that attendees kept asking what was the calendar for 2012?

It’s expanded into an 18 part series focused completely on providing practical tools, information and resources for small business owners eager to make sense of social media.

“Really important features of the seminars are the opportunities for attendees to learn from expert presenters and to ask their own questions. It isn’t an opportunity we normally get, to have our individual voices heard and questions asked and answered,” says Belinda.

For this reason, ticket numbers are limited for each seminar to make it possible for real audience interaction.

The seminars are made up of one hour presentations by other SME’s using social media for their own businesses to share real life, useful skills and tools. There are also four panel discussions through out the year with three expert presenters and half the time is given over to audience questions.

Time is also created for like minded entrepreneurs to meet, network and explore possible connections within the inspiring walls of heritage buildings at The Rocks.

The seminar calendar (http://www.sheinspires.com.au/small-business-social-media-seminar-calendar) has two seminars a month through to October. There are no prerequisites for attending, letting SME’s come to sessions that suit their needs and schedules.
