Startup Food Trucks Hit Sydney

- January 24, 2012 < 1 MIN READ

They have existed in places such as New York for decades, and with the recent approval of 10 new Food Trucks to service parts of the city by the Sydney City Council, we are about to start seeing a unique and exciting Mobile Food Culture emerge throughout Australia. Lord Mayor Clover Moore announced today the names of the 10 successful businesses that have been chosen in this first round to service the Sydney city area. “Residents want more quality food at all hours” she says and the introduction of this new fleet will provide this.

Over 30 operators lodged their applications and went through a thorough testing process that included looking at their business plans, operating procedures, waste management practices and finally a cook off where they cooked food from their vans and under went taste testing. The lucky 10 chosen were:

  • Agape
  • Al Carbon
  • Bite Sized Delights
  • Burger Theory
  • Cantina Mobil
  • Eat Art Truck
  • Let’s Do Yum Cha
  • Taco Truck
  • Tsuru
  • Veggie Patch

Operators are now able to fit out their trucks and we should see them hit the streets in coming weeks. Expect the operators to use social media to attract customers and keep you engaged, I know I will be searching for the Taco Truck social media feed pronto!
