On Saturday just gone by, hundreds of Young Entrepreneurs swarmed upon Sydney Based Gen Y consultancy – The Entourage’s, event “The Young Entrepreneurs Unconvention” With the likes of Matt Barrie, [BRW Entreprenuer of the Year & CEO of Freelancer.com] Andrew Morello [The Apprentice, Yellow Brick Road] Jack Delosa [The Entourage, MBE Education] and Ruslan Kogan [Kogan Technologies, Milan Direct] all speaking, the eager crowd soaked up the words of wisdom and asked many questions in the hopes of emulating the successes of these individuals in their own ventures.
The Entourage is Australia’s Largest group of real entrepreneurs and executives under the age of 35. The core of objectives of the organisation are to:
1. Provide a place for Entrepreneurs and Executives to Network.
2. Connect Australia’s best Entrepreneurs with Australia’s next Entrepreneurs
3. Offer real business education by people with “been there, done that” experience.
It was a great day with an epic amount of networking going on, it was great to see such a real sense of community throughout the event. During the day 4 startups pitched their business to a panel of judges which included not only the speakers but a representative of Servcorp [a sponsor of the event] and Stuart Cook [CEO, Zambrero].
The overall winner was Dan Biddle of RioLife, a company that makes health products from the Acai Berry, an imported superfood from Brasil. Others pitching included 17 year old Brandon Cowen, from Crazy Dog Apps [He is still doing his HSC!] the founders of Pick A Quote [who we profiled last week on the blog] and the very exciting new venture [that we have also profiled] Project PowerUp by young Entrepreneur Ryan Wardell – we also know that after the pitching had finished that Matt Barrie had taken a keen interest in Project PowerUp, so we won’t be surprised if we see some big things happening with them VERY soon.
