Brisbane innovation hub River City Labs will host its third Startup Weekend Women Brisbane event as part of the Global Startup Weekend Women movement on September 20-22.
The three-day event will bring together like-minded women in business or hoping to start one, giving the latter the chance to pitch their ideas. Teams will be formed around the best ideas voted to begin the working process in bringing the idea to market, and on the final evening, each team will present to a panel of judges and the winning idea announced.
River City Labs CEO Peta Ellis said Global Startup Weekend Women is a great opportunity for women from all walks of life to come together in a supportive environment to give their ideas a chance.
“The support we give to these women over the weekend will help them tackle fears that can often hold them back from taking the first step in starting a business,” she said.
Simultaneous Startup Weekend Women events will take place in 18 countries.
Throughout the weekend, teams will have access to mentors and founders to help them during the planning, development, market and implementation phase. One of the prizes from the weekend includes an all-expenses-paid trip for a member of the winning team to participate at the global finals in Singapore in October.
