MPowered Pitch Competition finalists announced

The finalists for the MPowered Pitch competition have been announced and the stage is set for an epic battle. Four women entrepreneurs will vie for the chance to take home a prize pool valued at $35,000.

The brains behind the Pitch Comp is Mums & Co founder Carrie Kwan.

“Women are notoriously bad at asking for money. And with only 2.2% of venture capital funds awarded to women-led ventures, we wanted to do our bit to even the playing field,” Kwan says.

“The MPowered Pitch Competition not only provides an avenue for women to pitch their business idea, everyone who entered received invaluable pitching advice from leading investment experts as well,”Kwan explains.

The MPowered Pitch Comp attracted major interest from women-led business across the nation. 40 semi-finalists were selected to compete at a Pitch Day Event in Sydney, where they received coaching prior to presenting their ideas.

The pitches were then vetted  by a panel of expert judges, including David Kenney, Partner, Hall Chadwick; Kevin O’Hara, Group CIO and Investment Portfolio Manager for Tulla Private Equity Group, Founder Techwitty; Rachel Tonkin, Investment Director AMB Capital; James Orchard, EGM Innovation, IAG; Jeremy Liddle, Cofounder, Director CapitalPitch; and Jill Baptist EGM Customer Futures.

Four finalists were selected to compete at the MPowered Pitch Competition.

The finalists are:

Edwina Sharrock with Birth Beat, an online antenatal platform for expecting mums and dads that revolutionises the out-dated model of hospital and group-based class learning

Jenny Atkinson with Littlescribe, an education solution solving literacy challenges by transforming handwritten illustrated writing at school into instant digital books and ‘for real life books’

Gabby Stein with Luboo, a rental wearable tracking wristbands to parents and caregivers of young children at large events and venues

Aivee Robinson with Catalyser, a cloud-based technology that helps purpose-driven companies of all sizes to run their best employee giving program

The MPowered Pitch Competition Finals and MPowered Conference take place at the ICC Sydney on Monday 18 June 2018.
