Tank Stream Labs opens blockchain hub in Sydney space

Coworking community Tank Stream Labs has partnered with Blockchain Professionals Sydney to develop a blockchain-focused hub in its original Sydney space on Bridge St.

Through the partnership, Tank Stream Labs will host events for the organisation, and work to build and expand Australian blockchain networks.

With sponsorship from startup Beam Wallet, tech consultancy Prismatik, and services marketplace CanYa, desks will also be made available to those looking to connect with the local blockchain community. Tank Stream Labs will also now be allowing residents to pay their fees in bitcoin.

Bradley Delamare, CEO of Tank Stream Labs, said, “The goal is to bring the Australian blockchain community together and Tank Stream Labs is the best place to strengthen this emerging community across the nation.”

Adriana Belotti, an organiser of the Blockchain Professionals meetup, added, “We’ve seen the industry evolve and are thrilled to play a small part in making it all happen. Anyone wanting to learn more about blockchain and its applications is welcome to join our community.

“It’s a new industry and learning together, and from each other’s findings and mistakes, not only allows for change to happen faster, but it also makes it more fun.”

It comes as a recent report from Deloitte, New tech on the block, predicted a “tipping point” within the next five years for the application of blockchain in the retail and consumer packaged goods industries. With the financial services sector an early adopter of the technology, the report stated, others are also starting to take notice.

“Interest will grow over the next two to three years as more businesses develop detailed enterprise strategies and implement blockchain prototypes,” the report stated. “The more advanced businesses will focus on how to scale up the opportunities they have identified.”

The launch of the blockchain hub for Tank Stream Labs follows the addition of entrepreneur and Shark Tank judge to its Sydney space as entrepreneur in residence earlier this month.

Banks said at the time he is excited to join the hub to help Australian entrepreneurs road test their ideas and ensure “they have done the necessary homework for success as a startup venture”.

“Tank Stream appeals to me as place to base myself for the next 12 months now I’m back in Australia. Apart from having great facilities and a central location, as a champion of startups and growing businesses I love the idea I’ll be surrounded by enterprising young people all ‘having a go’ at their own business,” he said.
