Pitch for $1 million

StartCon has partnered with Australian venture capital firm Right Click Capital to launch pitching competition Pitch for $1 million across Asia-Pacific, with the winner to be receive $1 million in funding.

The final will be held in Sydney during the annual StartCon conference in December, following regional final events across APAC, including in Singapore, Chennai, Manila, Adelaide, and Guangzhou.

Benjamin Chong, partner at Right Click Capital, said the firm is keen to give the winner of the competition access to international expertise around operations and expansion through its own partnership with the global Draper Venture Network.

“We’re excited to partner with StartCon, Australia’s largest startup conference and entrepreneur community, and look forward to helping the local startup ecosystem level the playing field with its US-based counterpart,” Chong said.

“There is such great talent in the Asia-Pacific region, and we cannot wait to contribute our specialist experience to support early-stage companies and enable them to scale and expand globally.”

StartCon CEO Cheryl Mack added, “There is so much startup talent in Asia-Pacific that just needs a global stage in order to show how great their companies are. We’re giving them that stage through Pitch for $1 million, as well as a financial boost with the help of Right Click Capital.

“As Right Click Capital is both founder-led and has extensive experience in investing in early- stage, high-growth tech businesses across the Asia-Pacific region, they were the obvious partner for us.”

Startup Daily had a chat with Benjamin Chong about what it was like to start a business within the dial-up era as well as the relationship between investors and founders on a recent episode of the Glass Ceiling podcast:
