Melbourne coworking space York Butter Factory and developer Mirvac in July announced a new partnership and platform called Hoist designed to help lift the Australian innovation ecosystem.

In addition to the announcement, they also revealed that the location of the first Hoist space would be at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney, where Mirvac two years ago won a bid around two years ago to develop a new office precinct, with the Commonwealth Bank to become an anchor tenant.

The Hoist space, upon completion, will include 75,000 square metres of floor space in the Locomotive Workshop, which will be now dedicated to startups and tech companies. Currently the space accommodates 50 seats and the entire space is scheduled for completion by 2020.

Startup Daily recently sat down with Hoist cofounder Stuart B Richardson for our Innovation Labs series to talk about the new space, the Hoist platform, and the importance of growing the communication between corporates and startups.
