Peter Cooper has a sweet spot for startups in the financial technology space. He is the founder of SydStart, the cities largest startup conference which has been running successfully for the last 3 years.

An active investor and advisor, Cooper is also the Director, Innovation and Growth at UTS: University of Technology. In this role which he began this year he is helping mentor and nurture the next generation of startups. His vision is to position UTS as a core leader and enabling component of a industry ecosystem with 5,000 or more tech and tech enabled startup businesses over the next 5-10 years.

Being one of Australia’s strongest startup ecosystems, it was hard to narrow a list like this to just ten people or duo’s. There are many more mentors of note in Sydney – some names that come to mind worthy of a mention are: Mike Casey (GradConnection) Matt Barrie (Freelancer.com) Dean McEvoy (IconPark) Kim Heras (25fifteen and Pushstart) and Tim Fung (Tank Stream Labs).
