Exclusive Workshop with Mainstream Media

In an exclusive event open only to ten startup or innovative small business teams, we have pulled out all the stops and are giving you the opportunity to pitch your newsworthy story to some of Australia’s best journalists and editors.

This full day workshop / short film for a shoestring.com.au original series called “Newsworthy?” will take place in Sydney on Saturday the 9th of November.

It will be a full on day, of learning about how to pitch to media and find that newsworthy story from within your business. We will dissect your business and your team to explore the different angles before building it into a strong pitch to deliver to our media panel in the afternoon.

We will develop and write a press release of which the panel will get given prior to the pitches and each startup will pitch in private to the panel, as well as recieve feedback and pointers, as well as ask questions if they are seeking more information.

There will be some minor prep for the ten startups attending this event, as the Shoe String Media team will need a headstart on researching your business and you to have a framework of newsworthy stories to brainstorm with you on the day.

We are very fortunate to have a panel that consists of:

  • Antoinette Lattouf from Channel Ten Eyewitness News
  • Nick Broughall the Editor of Techradar.com and T3 Magazine
  • Alex Brophy from Kochie’s Business Builders TV Show on Channel 7
  • Rose Powell from Startup Smart and Smart Company

If the panel choose to pursue stories for their programs or publications post this event they are free to do so, the overall purpose though is to get some solid feedback about your media and PR strategy off those people that actually stand between your story making it out into the public or not.

The show “Newsworthy?” will also play on shoestring.com.au and other Australian publications giving your business a reach of 30 000 + viewers. Shoe String Media have partnered with an agency to facilitate strategic media exposure for this Shoe String original series.
