Tech23 finalists for 2013 announced!
Tech23 has just announced their line-up of 23 innovative startups that will be presenting their pitches at the annual celebration of innovation this year.
Tech23 is one of Sydney’s biggest innovation events responsible for unearthing some of Australia’s most successful startups. In another exciting year, 23 companies will have the opportunity to showcase their technologies in front of innovation luminaries; and stand to win government and industry-sponsored prizes, including a trip to Silicon Valley hosted by ATP Innovations, cash prizes from innovative companies such as AMP, REA Group and PayPal, meetings with prominent figures in the tech space and more.
Nano Nouvelle, creators of an electrode which improves battery performance by 200%; an autonomous grit-blasting robot for the Sydney Harbour Bridge developed by Sabre Autonomous Solutions; and an iPhone controlled robotic arm for people with spinal cord injuries are among the fascinating technologies to be showcased.
There are also startups innovating in the health, consumer web, enterprise, and agriculture spaces.
“We look for companies that are addressing a real customer need, that are solving a real pain-point either for consumers or enterprise,” says Rachel Slattery, organiser of Tech23.
“I am very excited by this year’s Tech23 line-up. The great number of entries we received this year demonstrates the disruptive technology businesses being created all around Australia – from the incubators, universities and many already supported by the Australian start-up community.”
The Tech23 event takes place on Tuesday 29 October 2013 in Sydney, and will feature presentations from the 23 selected companies, commentary from Industry Leaders Rachel Botsman, Paul Bassat, Alan Noble, Fiona Pak-Poy, Stuart Richardson, and Susan Wu; as well as a compelling discussion on ‘The Internet of More Things’ led by Dr Alex Zelinksy and Prof Hugh Durrant-Whyte.
The event is sponsored by NSW Trade & Investment, NICTA, AMP Amplify Festival, Citrix, CSIRO, and UOW iAccelerate.
