It only went live less than 20 days ago, but startup Surf Careers is making big waves in the online recruitment sector already with some of the best known and loved surf brands in the world already on board advertising positions they have going in their companies. And the uptake has been truly global for this Aussie startup who is attracting thousands of candidates looking for employment by the sea.
Troy Roennfeldt, the founder of the specialised website, developed the site to connect surfers and ocean lovers with all aspects of the surf industry including; IT, retail, fashion, advertising, marketing, hospitality, tourism and accounting sectors.
Even though Surfcareers.com has only been live for a few weeks, employers and brands such as Aquabumps, Oakley, Planet Surf and Macaronis Resort in the Mentawai Islands are amongst the brands from around the globe already flocking to the site to upload their latest positions.
Employees are able to browse through a myriad of jobs, create job alerts and online resumes at no charge. For a small fee, employers are able to post jobs, company news and browse through the resumes which are already beginning to flow in via the Surfcareers.com website.
Troy is over the moon with the feedback. “Working takes up such a huge portion of our lives, so if you can combine your passion with your career it makes the working part a whole lot easier,” he stated. “This is why I developed Surfcareers.com. The site is the perfect conduit to get likeminded, surfloving employees and employers connected.”
“I have successfully run employment websites in the IT industry, and have a passion for surfing, so it was only natural that both of these massive elements of my life finally came together in one project.”
It is interesting to see the shift in online job boards right now, whilst Seek still remains number one, these smaller nimble and niche players are taking significant chunks of various industries away from them.
