Digital Powerbrokers in Sydney for Masterclass

A community whisperer for The Huffington Post, Al Jazeera, foursquare and the BBC, a founding member of Apple Multimedia Lab, the CEO of China’s most successful mobile advertising and search platforms, and one of Creativity magazine’s “most creative and influential minds” will converge on Sydney for X Media Lab’s KR8V Masterclass Series: Creative Leadership Edition.

X Media Lab today announced a world-class and truly unique line-up of speakers and masterclass mentors for their inaugural KR8V Masterclass Series: “Creative Leadership Edition”, being held 7 – 9 June as part of Vivid Sydney, the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest annual celebration of light, music and ideas (24 May – 10 June).

The diverse mix of interactive media experts, transmedia producers, artists and entrepreneurs will present at the one-day “Highlights Day” Conference for executives at the Vivid Ideas Exchange, Level 6 of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia on Friday 7 June, and then give longer form intense and interactive masterclasses to creative industries practitioners on 8 and 9 June at the sparkling new UNSW COFA Paddington campus.

Leading the line-up of internationally renowned speakers is Manuel Lima, “one of the 50 most creative and influential minds of 2009”; Michael Naimark – a world leading authority on media arts and research and development; and Kristen Taylor – a “community whisperer” for some of the world’s coolest brands including Al Jazeera, The Huffington Post and foursquare.

Lima, an Interaction Designer and Information Architect, is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on information visualization. The Founder of Visualcomplexity.com, Michael is also a senior UX design lead at Microsoft.

Naimark is a founding member of the Atari Research Lab, the Apple Multimedia Lab, and Lucasfilm Interactive (now LucasArts), while Taylor, as well as being a pioneering community editor, teaches community design at NYU’s graduate ITP program and is now senior digital producer at Al Jazeera’s Faultlines.

Also taking part in the internationally acclaimed digital media think-tank is Interactive Emmy Award winner Cate McQuillen, co-creator of the phenomenally successful Dirtgirlworld, and Galvin Scott Davis – the creator of Australia’s #1 Lifestyle App, #1 Business App, and #1 Kids Game App in the iPhone store in Australia.

Shanghai based global mobile entrepreneur Alvin Wang Graylin is the founder of mInfo, China’s leading mobile search and mobile advertising company; and the CEO of Guanxi.me – the pioneering location based social network in China. Wang Graylin will present on “How to Pitch Your Idea for Investment” and “What you need to know about China” – bringing creative leaders up-to-date in the Asian Century!

Internationally successful artists Jun Nguyen Hatsushiba, Hong Kong’s MAP Office and Marnix de Nijs will all give keynote presentations at the KR8V Highlights Day Conference. These three artists also have work in the exhibition “Running the City” – the inaugural exhibition at the new Galleries NSW at the University of New South Wales College of Fine Arts (UNSW COFA), presented by the National Institute for Experimental Arts (NIEA) and the International Symposium of Electronic Art program (ISEA 2013).
