Sydney-based startup community organisation PushStart will host Australia’s first ever event for financial services technology, or “FinTech”, startups later this week in Sydney.
The ‘PushStart FinTech Forum’ will feature a panel of leading Australian FinTech startups and financial services industry representatives discussing emerging global trends in the space and challenges and opportunities for Australian FinTech startups looking to succeed in both local and global markets.
“FinTech” startups have been growing in popularity in Australia with companies like TapIt, Pygg, Coinr and Saasu all emerging in recent years. All four companies will be on the panel at the event, along with key innovation representatives from HSBC, Macquarie Group, BT Financial and HP’s financial services innovation arm.
“The time is right to hold Australia’s first FinTech event. We analysed hundreds of startups that have profiled themselves on the Pushstart website and found that FinTech is one of the best represented industries” says PushStart founder, Kim Heras.
“What’s also pleasing has been the response from industry. Senior innovation representatives from most of the top Financial Services organisations in Australia will either be on the panel or in the crowd. They’ve recognised there is great innovation happening locally and are keen to engage”
Coinr and SydStart founder Peter Cooper agrees.
“There’s enough critical mass in Sydney now to make a FinTech event valuable.”
